Terrain can only be changed in OpenTTD by using the replace (and in a few cases replacenew) command.

In the following table either the sprite number are given (for replace) or the name in case of replacenew

3924 - 3942 all bulldozed bare land (stage 1, no grass)
3943 - 3961 each bulldozed bare land (stage 2, little grass)
3962 - 3980 each bulldozed bare land (stage 3, more grass)
3981 - 3999 each normal grass
4000 - 4018 each rough terrain
4019 - 4022 each additional flat rough terrain
4023 - 4041 each rocky terrain
4062 - 4069 each shore sprites

4493 - 4511 arctic grass-snow transistion (25%)
4512 - 4530 arctic / desert grass-snow / grass-desert transition stage (50%)
